Introduction to Google Instant

September 9, 2010 by Swytch
Introduction to Google Instant

As many of you fellow SEO Freaks out there already know, Google Instant launched this week and there is quite a bit of buzz centered around it.

In Search Engine Land’s article:  “SEO Is Here To Stay, It Will Never Die“, they discuss some of the buzz on the launch of Google Instant and whether it’s an “SEO killer”.  If you aren’t yet familiar with the new Google Instant service, I’ve included a video below which will catch you up to date.

While Google Instant has some really cool application possibilities, it is definitely not a “SEO killer“.  Search engine Land’s own response to this was:

“…No, Google Instant isn’t killing SEO. In fact, nothing’s going to kill SEO. I know there are a lot of SEO haters out there who wish this were so, but that hate comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of what SEO is about. If you misunderstand something so much as to hate it, you surely have no understanding about its future.

No, SEO is not about tricking search engines, nor spamming links, nor ruining web design. It’s about building good content, understanding the ways people might seek it — including the words they might use — and ensuring the content is search engine friendly along with being human friendly.”

“…Google Instant reemphasizes the need to do keyword research by examining suggestions, but that was already part of the SEO landscape for ages

What are your thoughts?

For good measure, I’ve thrown in one more demo of Google Instant:
